Door rim corrosion

Hello, as a member of another forum, I came across a post where owner spotted a corrosion at the bottom rim of the doors. See the pic below.
Garage is most probably going to replace all 4 doors under warranty.
I checked mine and even my paint is not off yet, the "blister-like" texture of the paint is already there and it looks like a matter of time when paint falls off.
So, how about yours, is it all okay?

Hello,
Long time lurker, but just registered to be able to answer this post 😊
I had the exact same issue on my 2015 Cactus. When doing the more thorough spring cleaning of my car with degreasing the door sides, a lot of paint came off on three of the four doors. Showed the car to my dealer, who sent pictures to Citroën Sweden. They agreed that it was a fault and replaced the three defective doors free of charge. Strangely the drivers side door (front left) shows no signs of corrosion.

Thanks for the input.
The owner mentioned in my original post is having the issue on all of the 4 doors, photos sent to Citroen by a dealer as well, all to be replaced. Our Cactus has this paint coming off on all 4 doors as well.

Just had a 15 plate , for 3 weeks and 3 of the doors have rust on them , makes it worse that I am a spraypainter and should have noticed it . Waiting on the dealer getting back to me , but I will be wanting 3 new doors and it will just come back through as it's coming from the back of the sealer.

Do they just supply empty doors, or are they supplied fully fitted with glass etc and interior trim ready to bolt on?

Mine is getting two new rear doors (through rust) replaced under the warrantee. It is a yellow Cactus Feel (27k) on a 64 plate. I am also paying for new rear discs and pads because they are so rusty. Also the air-con is being replaced under warrantee. Do you think this car is a good investment?

I would be interested in the latest manufacturing date of a any car with rusty doors.

I note that my new Rip Curl has drum brakes at the rear. Much better, discs at rear always rust away in my experience
For me the "jury is still out" on this. My Mar 15 car looks to have the corrosion condition posted but cannot be sure this will turn into actual corrosion...yet. I also have the rear disc brakes - as have most of my cars since the mid 1990s and none of these have had corrosion issues. If the brakes fail due to corrrosion I shall be claiming against Citroen...unless the car has already been sold on prior to it's MOT failure on this point.

I have a couple of months now to choose whether to order another car or stick with this and risk mismatched paint in a year or two as I feel the doors are certainly in for a reskin by March.

Very annoying as this car was an intended "keeper" beyond 3 years, as is my other car (Golf GTi bought new in October 2013). That is doing well (Just had 2nd MOT) but Cactus has been very unreliable.

Should I buy Peugeot 3008 or Skoda Karoq? Well I really want to save my retirement money and keep this Cactus, but all things considered my £30k (well specced petrol car with dual clutch gearbox, sunroof and LED headlamps) is more likely to be spent with VAG than PSA after this fiasco.

And yes, I had a dreadful Golf VR6 in 1993 but since then my VAG stuff (mainly Audi) has been very reliable.

My last Citroen was a 1990 BX GTI 4x4 which was flimsy but fun...why did they not not make this Cactus properly?

You might find it relevant to read what the AA web site says about brake disc corrosion:

"On the front, surface rust is quickly cleaned off by the action of the pads on the discs, but this may not be the case on the rear, especially on a small, light vehicle or one only used infrequently and for local trips.

Initial, light corrosion can be cleaned off under reasonably heavy braking, but if left, this light corrosion gets worse and can lead to surface pitting.

Pitting used to be a reason for MOT test failure, but now discs should only fail the test if they've become 'seriously weakened'.

Surface corrosion or pitting of discs isn't a 'fitness for purpose' or warranty repair issue, as it mainly depends on how the vehicle is used and stored."

I've recently had all four doors replaced due to the dreaded corrosion issue - the garage did a good job and the paint match appears perfect. There is what appears to be tape over the door seams - I don't know if the doors were supplied to the garage with this on or the garage applied it before painting. I would be interested to know if new Cacti have this - did not notice tape until I got car home and so not had a chance to check this out.

When I ordered my Cactus the spec was for rear discs but this was changed to drums before mine was delivered - I was miffed about this at first but reports of rear disc corrosion on lightly used examples has changed my mind. I rotate my wheels every 5000 miles and last time I did this I took the opportunity to paint the drums, which were showing signs of surface rust, as they were very visible through the square alloys.

Same here, 3 doors down ;). Only the front passenger doors are good. Called Bellamy's in london they told me to pop in to have a look, take pics and send to manufacturer. The car is just one year old - did you have any problems having it fixed under warranty?

You have a three year warranty on paint defects. Only one rear door was affected on my cactus from new but over the next year the other doors started to show signs of damaged paint. I would examine the other doors very carefully and perhaps not rush to have the job done unless you don't mind perhaps having to go back to have the other doors done later.

Wouldn't the Anti-perforation Warranty cover this, (12 years for cars and 5 years for vans)?

Citroen has just changed all my doors, there was only clear rust on one.
It took them 2 days, but they turned the lists wrong on the back doors so they were not tight and water penetrated so it had to come back in for 1 day ...

Did you go through Citroen UK or local Citroen dealership?
I think his location is Denmark...
Contacted my local dealership. The independent dealer I bought has said they could look at it as I have just got it (its only a small area but I assume a warranty claim if they replace the door is better than a sand and respray which may not prevent reoccurance).

Does seem strange how its just doors.

Our car (registered October 2015) is not yet showing any sign of this issue and apparently there are other owners also without any problem.
Discussions have suggested a design fault (which presumably would affect just about all vehicles) or what seems more likely to me: some quality control deficiency with regard to material or manufacturing / painting processes.
