Progressive Hydraulic Cushions Retrofit?

So the new Cactus is now with us. Does anyone know if it could be possible to retrofit its suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions to an original (now Old- ) model Cactus? Probably prohibitively expensive, but could it physically be done?

Interesting question! I think it is probably technically possible but I have had a look on service.citroen.com website and I came away head spinning! I think not only do you have to swap the shock absorbers but you would need to swap the springs as well. All fine and dandy except with the front springs those of us with older model Cacti have a choice of two for the front. With the post face lift there's a choice of 5!! Additionally, the rear cross members look physically similar but with face lift models there is a choice of two part numbers. Sorry to put of a bit of a damper on the project, but I think it could be problematical and expesnsive.

Hey guys, resurrecting an old topic here, but... I have the opportunity to get the shock absorbers from a new Cactus 2019 at a very good price and I was wondering if you think replacing the ones currently in my 2017 Cactus with these from the facelift would 1) be possible and 2) improve the ride quality? From what I understand, these PHCs are inside the shock absorber, so maybe having the absorbers alone would be an improvement as well? That being said, it would most likely void any warranty and my Citroen dealer would not do it (haven't asked yet). I can still buy them and get them installed in the end of my warranty period.
Any input on this matter will be highly appreciated ;)

I suggest you read the variety of opinions about the new suspension here https://www.cactusforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4318
Yeah I read this thread and watched quite a few reviews, but I also got some first hand experience - got to drive the 2019 model on two public test drive events. The PHC suspension feels great on our terrible roads and I'm not trying to go over speed bumps at 40 km/h. I'm just looking for a smoother ride in general, as close as it can get to the comfort mode of a large executive car.

Very interesting thread. I have been thinking about doing the same swap for some time but gotten around to investigate it furter in terms of parts. PHC makes a huge difference on potholes and other uneven surfaces. Tested it today on a dealer MK2 Cactus with PHC, and 5min after did the potholes in my 2014 C4 Cactus Mk1 110THP. What a difference! In the did mk2 I could hardly feel the pothole, in my mk1 it went clonk! With a harsh impact.

I a pretty confident is is doable. It may require a full front strut / A-arm assembly like this found on ebay : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2017-CITROEN-C4-CACTUS-SUSPENSION-CORNER-DRIVER-SIDE-RIGHT-1-2-STRUT-HUB-14456-/264025091631

Of cause from a Mk2 Cacatus with PHC (Citroën Progressive Hydraulic Cushions).

I will post what i find, if someone will not beat me to it.

Found this part no. for the 2019 MK2 front struts 9820948680 (Left) 9820948580 (Right) - Possible with PHC
Found online for around 100euros each.

The old Mk1 seems to uses these: 9809713280 , 9810705280
9673329280 (wihout PHC)

Unfortunately they look visually identical, so far.
