Is anyone else getting a high-pitched whistling wind sound front-right of the windscreen when driving at high speeds with all windows closed?

Hello

I have had the whistling problem fixed by the local dealership.

They realligned the front doors to make them squeeze the weather strip more tightly, and now the problem seems to be solved.

I have not experienced the sound since. My Cactus also has the too short weather strips, but it seems that they are not the cause of the problem.

Best regards

Jacob

I have had this issue and it's awful. Terrible whistling noise through drivers window when going at speed on windy day. The dealer has replaced the door desks but that did not work. They plan to add another sealer into the door reveal which I'm not sure is a good idea. Someone on this forum said they simply realigned the doors and that worked. Am waiting on my dealer to give feedback as the noise is really bad. Will keep you posted.

Pushing the rubber seals above the doors forward solved this problem on my car.

I own a Cactus for six month now, clocked almost 20k km. About a month ago started hearing these whistles every now and then on highway speeds.

In the last few days the whistle had become permanent from 100kph and intensifying as speed rises above that.

Following information on this thread linking this to rubber seals above the doors creeping backwards, and after noticing the seal on the right hand side was indeed a few cm backwards from the mark, I opened both doors on the same side and massaged the seal running above both openings forward, starting from back and moving forward.

This pushed the seal back to the mark in a single pass.

Tested up to 140kph no whistle at all.

I had the "HPWS" on days with high wind speeds, and I had my dealer "do something"...I think it solved it (i think they glued something) but so far it's working...but I've not been driving in that many windy days since.

"So what he did to fix the sound, he just cleaned the roof with a rag to get some of the dirt away, then he removed a washer (From the front of the car, speaking about only the front left railing corner, there are 3 holes as you go towards the back, he removed a washer from the location of the back hole). Then he put it all back on, and made it really tight. (really really extremely tight). The sound is gone."

Mine came from the repair shop yesterday - the recommended procedure was to add two strips that are glued underneath the door seals (which coincidentally now come installed in more recent models). Not only this didn't solve the issue as it has caused for the left door to also start whistling. Now, my left door starts whistling around 130Km/h, while my right door starts around 140-150Km/h. The guys from the repair shop already contacted Citroen, asking for an alternative solution. Now, let's wait.

Apologies for digging this out of the archives...following a drive down the M5 yesterday into strong headwinds my drivers door is making a horrendous howl.

Thanks for all the info re the door seals and positioning...time to get it booked in :)

Heard the whistling noise yesterday strong winds here in Scotland, seems to be crosswinds causing the problem.Checked the rubber seals on doors and both were short of indent on front doors. When door is closed there is a gap between plastic on doors and rubber seals, referred to photo on page 3 and managed to move seals down enough to close the gap.Weather still windy took car for run on same route and no whistling noise was heard.Hopefully that sorted it.

Been scrolling through trying to find this thread.

So this was just a warning to all you cactus owners out there who haven't had whistling wind noise.

My cactus has been a dream for 20,000 miles, majority of which has been motorway driving. BUT for the last 1000 or so miles I have started notice this whistling coming from the nearside window.

So my advice would be to get them sorted while under warranty, even if you dont have the whistling yet because there is a chance it will start. As I said mine didnt start till 20,000+ miles.

Will be taking it to the dealers in the new year.

Maybe unconnected but just an observation. I was having a look at my indicator repeaters and notice they are installed plastic to metal without any form of rubber gasket.
Whilst I am more concerned about the ingress of water than whistling I have ordered a small sheet of 1mm neoprene from Amazon to make some gaskets. Their location "into wind" may just cause some whistling at speed.

Interesting might look at that in the new year, I think I did hear it once for a few seconds a while back but not before or since. Been out today both on motorway and country road and its been very windy here and no noise so its a weird one. Obviously the wind has to be just so to make it happen

Ive noticed that my seal is short of the line. Not measured it but seems a fair amount. When in the high 60s/early 70s i notice wind noise coming from drivers door but it sounds like its coming from right next to my ear. So the back of the door (not where the seal is short). Its not a whistle so could this just be wind noise and is normal?
