Re: Are you a Flasher?

For six years we owned a smart, owners that didn’t wave or flash were the exception - I still miss them

Re: Engine sound wrong or right?

We had a C3 82 puretech for a month recently, it was definitely ‘thuddy’ when cold at idle, the turbo version might not be the same as the exhaust manifold is obviously quite different

Re: Engine sound wrong or right?

At idle 3-cylinder engines tend to idle lower than 4-cylinder units, especially when cold this can come across as not firing properly. As others have said it’s nothing to worry about and one of the benefits of a 3-pot that it has character.

Re: Is 95 Celsius (203 F) water temperature normal?

Perfectly normal. On most cars that have a gauge they sit at 90C but this is a defined figure as a result of a tolerance (ie it sits at 90 when between about 88 and 98C), only when it goes above or below this threshold does it change - rarely is it sitting rock solid at 90C, it would be impossible t...

Re: Service due already?

No, if it’s aligned with the spanner symbol being permanently illuminated (as opposed to coming on when starting for a few seconds) this is perfectly normal.

Just having the ‘Service’ light on does not mean it needs a service - bless the French!

Needs a service.
It doesn’t - the spanner symbol represents a service, confusingly ‘service’ means a fault has developed which requires further investigation. This could be a bulb out, sensor in the engine or anything in between - only a lexia diagnostic will give the full picture.

Re: Service due already?

The yellow service light is telling you there is a fault - are there any other lights illuminated?

Need to go back to the dealer I am afraid.

A Mehari 4x4 in the auction where the most expensive cars are likely to be €20,000, I’ll have all three!

Re: Happy first -time Cactus owner

I've not bought from carshop but have used motorpoint and found the experience open and honest - it has all the ease of buying a washing machine which is nice to have the sales patter dropped. Regarding demisting you don’t need to change the touch screen - there is a physical button to the bottom le...

Re: Pick up my ex demo Flair Next week

How old is the car? Ex demo implies it is about 6 months old in which case the car is covered under the original warranty until 60k miles/ 3 years - if your car goes over 60k/ 3 years in 12 months from purchase then you are covered by the approved used warranty. However, if it’s somewhere between 2 ...
