Re: Engine replacement due to oil consumption 1.2. 82hk

"Next time you want to buy a car make sure it is at least 1.6 if you want the engine to last. Unless you want smart kind of car then 1.2 would do." Not as simple as that: Cactus is light, around 1000kg, so 1.2 in all states of tune is fine. Don't forget that the 308/3008 also use the 1.2 and they ar...

Re: Engine oil pressure fault - Stop

I had this repeatedly, as posted on another thread. It ended up with the engine using serious amounts of oil, and failing the MOT through emissions. Citroen say there are too many factors at play for them to accept any issue with the engine. Result is that i have to sell the car for peanuts, for a c...

Re: BIG plans for my Cactus in the spring!

interesting!
might need to keep an eye on the clutch: i think the 5-speed system is rated below 200lbs/ft as all the puretech 130 engines use the 6-speed with uprated clutch.

Re: Puretech dangerous fault

very interesting link. i spoke to a local dealer about this last week and they denied any knowledge that this was a known issue. But, the car has now failed MOT on emissions..so is potentially worthless. PSA specialist who i use quoted around £4K for an exchange engine, so that's a non-starter. I'm ...

Re: Puretech dangerous fault

Until you've found out what the cause of the oil consumption is can it be regarded as a design fault? Don't get me wrong, in this day and age an engine should be able to get up to that sort of mileage without using that amount of oil but if a component is worn / broken then surely it's better to ad...

Puretech dangerous fault

So had the car for 4 years, put quite a few commute miles on it, 110 Flair 94K with FSH. Recently it's started using oil - the reason i know this is the problem: i had to do an emergency stop on the motorway; engine fault light came on, stop engine warning appeared on the screen. The engine idled bu...

Re: driver's car seat

i'm 6'3" and it's a compromise: i got a lumbar pad and it's bearable, but it's my main bugbear with the car really. 90% of the problem would be sorted if the steering was reach adjustable, for me.

Re: A new campaign - TSB to change spark plugs

Do we know what the new spark plugs are? different spec?
I ask as i'd rather just do them myself rather than faff about trying to persuade my local, useless, citroen dealer to change them.

Re: Squeaky shifter knob

Yep - same problem. Over the hot weekend it was squeaking like a mouse, quite annoying :D I was thinking of taking it apart and re-fixing with some adhesive, but the silicone spray sounds like a good idea. I have some, i'll let you know if it works..
