Hi Everyone,

I have always enjoyed improving items I own. The same goes for the C4 Cactus PureTech 110. As the car is turbo charged it is possible to extract more power with a higher turbo boost pressure.

A simple chip can raise the C4 Cactus' performance to 136Hp.

Then I realized that the "just" C4 with a PureTech 130 engine can be raised to 155Hp/260Nm

It is in regards to this subject I need you guys input.
From what I have been able to gather, the PureTech 110 and the 130 engines are exactly the same:

"As regards the 110 and 130 hp PureTech turbo engines, they differ only by their calibration and gearboxes. "

Found on Peugeot official web-site:
Citroen and Peugeot share engines and drive train. So I expect the same for the Citroen engines. The power levels seems to be dictated by the gearbox and clutch, as the 130 variant only comes with a 6 speed manual and the 110 variant only comes with a 5 speed manual.

My thoughts: Swap the 5 speed manual gearbox in the Cactus with a 6 speed gearbox from a "C4 PureTech 130" or from a Peugeot 308 (from the wreckers). Then boost performance from 110Hp to 155Hp and even better 260Nm! This would make a interesting Cactus!

This swap would have been easy in the 90s, but today everything is integrated. For instance the gear selector guidance, telling you to upshift, is aware of which gear you are in and how many gear the gearbox have.
Changing to a 6 speed might require reconfiguration of the ECU. With a bit of luck it will not, as the gearbox engine combination is factory. Hopefully the ECU will detect the new gearbox on boot/power on, and simple act accordingly.

Could a (Citroen) mechanic elaborate???

Best Regards Thor
