Just come back from a holiday in our 1.6 hdi cactus towing our tregano trailer tent. We went from west wales to the borders region of Scotland then to Perth and finally to north Yorkshire and home, 1500 miles in all. We knew that the car would do the job as it won the ultra light tow car award what surprised us was just how good it was. All up towing weight that we used was about 700kgs certainly no more. The car had enough room to pack all of our gear and towed really well. Not sure how accurate the fuel used is on the trip screen but using cruise control as often as possible at maximum towing speeds allowed and of course traffic conditions it showed an unbelievable 57.4 mpg and come to think of it I did not fill up much. The car was stable especially on the roads in Scotland and north yorks which are crap. The only down side was that overtaking on non duel carriageways needed careful planning as the car will go at a fair lick but takes its time getting there.

The sat nav is pretty good too never got us totally lost and always got us to our destination the new road works that abound in north yorks confused it a bit and ended up putting us on the Sutton bank hill road. How did we know we were on that road it was lined with notices about how many lorries had got stuck on it and how caravans were prohibited etc problem was once on the road nigh on impossible to get off but the cactus shot up in 2nd up the 25% hill, trailer and all making short work of the hairpin bends. Max distance covered in one go was 380 miles and we both still felt ok afterwards. A great car.
