Air-Conditioning

Post by Rubik » Thu Oct 18, 2018 12:26 pm

This is posed to anyone who wishes to voice their opinion.

How long would you think it is reasonable to expect the air-con to work on a C4 Cactus before it needs mending.?

By the word mending: refilling with refrigerant, making it cool again, servicing etc... :!:

Thanks in anticipation.

My understanding is that the air conditioning filter also called air cabin filter or dust pollen filter is scheduled for replacement every 2 years (normal service) or every year for an "arduous service".
If the filter is not changed the effectiveness of the aircon will reduce.

I got 14 years out of a Renault Clio air con.no regas or anything.
Just made sure it was used once a week minimum.
Daughters C1 is 6 years and still fine.
If it's not used seals harden and gas leaks away.

Same for me, never had any issues or needed a refill (neither with older or newly bought cars). My Cactus is the first which needed a refill due a leaking valve at 2.5 years old.

hi Rubik.

My car is September 2014, it is serviced a minimum of once a year. It has just covered 35,500 miles.

Five full months of its life has been spent in the dealerships garage for the multitude of repairs and recalls.

The air-con is used every week and fails again after only a few months. Last duration was 500 miles, fed up of it
besides that short interval, it has gone wrong 3? 4? times from new.

My Cactus is almost 3 years old now and has covered 28,700 miles. I've had no issues at all with te climate control system, which is on all the time.
