Wanted dead or alive. ............. Cactus Workshop Manual.

Post by CactiBhoy » Tue Mar 19, 2019 3:58 pm

Not got any friends, who knows anyone who knows how to remove the battery from my 18 plate Cactus Diesel. Cant seem to remove it myself.

I tried to remove it so I could start another car whilst mines was running (My sister had drove her car into the lock up frontwards so couldn't get much access for jump leads, and her handbrake was jammed on      )

Also as the cars not 12 months old yet, I dont what to muck anything up without the dealer finding out. Or they may void any warranties. :P :P :P

But could do with a online workshop manual anyway, as I love a good tinker around on my own car, and anyone else who trusts my judgement.

If I have read your post correctly, I would be wary of running your engine without a battery connected. I suspect that the engine would stop anyway but I think there is a real danger of damaging the alternator. With regard to removal of the battery, I think you need to remove the ECU bolted to the side of the battery. Below that is a 10mm (?) bolt which clamps the battery.

Thanks guys, and you can run any car (Any vehicle as far as I`m aware it does no harm to anything) without a battery fitted with a alternator, as it supplies the engine first, then trickle charges the battery as you drive. Only certain motorcycles or any old car with a dynamo will cut out. If the battery is removed with the engine running, as its only their to start it and act as a fuse or boil the acid distillates away. As they are archaic D.c. caveman technology.
