There is an oil level check the car performs on start up so have this checked
I'm pretty sure this feature is only active on diesels. When I contacted Citroen as mine didn't come on, that's what I was told.

Well my 110 comes up oil ok on start up so not only active on diesels.

It's not just me.

I have the oil can light at the top that comes on when I turn on the ignition and hopefully if my pressure drops but no oil level indicator. I can only go on what Citroen have told me. Whether it is true is another matter.

Known problem, heard rumours, where have you read this and rumours from who?Could you please inform the forum readers of the sources of this info.I have the 82 bhp engine and do regular checks on oil and it never loses a drop.
Hello, i'd like to know if someone here has the some problem?

My 1.2l 82cv had consume 3 l of oil last 1200kms, the engine has 70000 kms, the car was built in 09/2014, one of the firt's.

I'd like to know if Citroen is assuming this problem with the engines in your countries?

The Low Oil light works on 1.2 Puretech petrol engines - mine comes on now and again. 2014, done about 80k miles, full service history, just chews up about a litre every 2000 miles.

By the way, did you know if you re-register a Citroen in France (from UK) they will not honour any warranty claims at Citroen French garages? Down to UK Citroen to pay, apparently. Thieving b*****ds!

1.6 2015 blue hdi, almost 200k kms some 150k miles done, bought it last year did on it 6k miles no oil consumption at all.

1.2 engine is to small for the size of the car. Next time buy 1.6

The oil pick-up seems to be at the front of the engines, both 1.2 Puretech and on my 2.0 HDi C4 Picasso. If parked on an upward slope and you start the engine, it is possible to get the oil can warning. This happened to me on our 1.2 C3, and one the oil can symbol is lit, it doesn't go until you stop the car, let it power down, then it is OK on a restart. Also happened to me on our C4 Picasso when I parked it nose-up on my drive, but I now knew the issue, stopped and restarted and all OK.

The 1.2 110 Puretech is perfectly adequate for the Cactus. It has plenty of power and mine did 50mpg average over 3 years of ownership from new and was still like new when I traded it in.

I have the same engine with a larger turbo in my C5 Aircross and it performs extremely well and although a much bigger and heavier car I still average 40mpg, even though I'm pretty lead-footed...

Random question - Can you post a pic of the engine of the dip stick?

The only reason I ask is some designs of PSA dipsticks have a habit of the ends snapping off and ending up in the sump.

Without the end on the dip stick it's easy to assume you've got no oil.
Earlier ones have a plastic end that breaks off. Later ones are metal to the end, so nothing to break. Checked the oil on our 2019 petrol C3 and 2015 2.0HDi C4 Picasso; neither have plastic ends.

For a motorbike, for smart kind of car yup 1.2 is enough,

The bigger the engine is the bigger the things inside of the engine are and stronger it is and I'm not talking about horse power.

1.2 may have as many horses as 1.6 but I will never last as long.

You're talking about 3 year old 1.2 pure tech which you sold from new after 3 years, yup that was about time for it to start developing troubles.

I have been dealing with truck and car engines since when I was 5 helping my father later on on my own.

If you want engine to last get yourself a car with 1.6 size of engine. If its the size of cactus.

usually a car with a 1.6 engine weighs 1300 kg. Cactus weighs 1000 kg. and maybe that's why 1.2 is enough for him?
