On a couple of occasions now, whilst slowing down in 5th gear, I've tried to move down from 5th to 4th, only to find the gearbox restricting my change. It almost feels as though there is a hold in 5th and no matter how many times I press the clutch and try to re-engage the gear, it just locks in "no mans land", or I have to go back into 5th. Its almost held in elastic mode. The car is a diesel 2015 FEEL model.
I can feel the car pulling away whilst changing gear which is somehow restricting the deselection, if that makes sense.
Hey, I have the exact same problem. Have the 2015 BlueHDI diesel cactus.
Did you by any change find out what the issue was? My hope is to just leave it alone and maybe it will not get worse.
Seems to mostly happen when I start shifting from 5th to 4th before I press the clutch down. Then it get stuck in 5th.
Then I have to release the cluch still in 5th and clutch again to be able to go the 4th. Abit of a hassle actually, especially if I need to slow down.
With most selection problems ( no matter what mileage) first thing to check and its a easy one to do. Is check the gearbox fluid level. Every 30.000 miles ( in town or highway miles) it should be changed anyway. So If you are above or below 30.000, and you get problems selecting any gear in your box (70`s flared bottoms is no excuse) Then get it checked. And check for leaks, from the filler or level plugs gearbox its self or the driveshafts coming out.
