Ah that's interesting, I don't think I've tried individual folders yet, I presumed something in the root might also be needed.

I'll try that later in the week when I get chance, cheers.

Edit: That folder is only about 800kb in size out of the full 5GB download, surely they wouldn't make me get all that extra data for nothing?

(I'm new to Citroen ;))
Interesting - the total unpacked size of the SMEG-PLUS-UPG package for firmware version 5.43.A2 is apparently just over 1 GB (as available via this link https://mega.nz/#F!ntEhlLTR!2TjMy1eo-Yf9q13MbVrnYA) so a 5GB download seems excessive.

It looks as though most of the 5GB is sat nav maps in the DATA\MAPPE folder - that's 4.98GB in size.

The more I look at this download the more it just looks like a sat nav update rather than firmware, presumably I need to source the firmware update elsewhere as Citroen presumably don't supply it?

My belief is that your downloaded package does include the firmware - SMEG_PLUS_UPG.

But anyway, you can download for free various versions (up to 5.43.A.R2) from https://mega.nz/#F!ntEhlLTR!2TjMy1eo-Yf9q13MbVrnYA and compare the contents of the latest one of these with the contents of the same folder in your downloaded package, before trying anything in the car.

Further to my previous comments , I have found that the package reference for your download (42006) corresponds to the latest map download. So it doesn't contain the firmware upgrade.

Cheers, I've grabbed the firmware from the link posted above - 1 attempt so far ending in the "no music files found" error but I'll keep plugging away with various combos of sticks etc :)

If you do the firmware update during the update your screen will look more like a std old school screen as per the old days of ms-dos.
It checks sectors, loads new files, removes old files and eventually it comes back to the interface that we all know and love.🤡
It takes around 1/2 hour and that's how long it takes at the dealer as well.
I did the latest from mega before I went to France and to be honest not sure if it's better, worse or just the same, certainly I think the mapping improved and possibly the rear camera got better, the rest I'm not sure.
I guess they might try to do it at the dealers next week as its my 3 year service and MOT. That'll wind them up👍

Can I ask

Does the latest version of the firmware support Android Auto ? and if so, is it advisable to put it on a 2016 model as the Android Auto site says it will be in 2018 cacti onwards ?

The 2018 models have a different head unit and firmware - the older models are not compatible in terms of firmware and hardware.

To everyone who's getting the "no music files found" error - You must place the files in a folder named SMEG_PLUS_UPG.
If your pen is in drive E, the files must be in E:\SMEG_PLUS_UPG\

Indeed, this was exactly the issue I had, doing this sorted it out.

Not that it seems to have made any changes to anything :D
