!2v supply

Post by Speck » Sun Jul 30, 2017 8:23 am

Hi all,

Just got my C4 Cactus 1.6 diesel Feel so new to both Cactus and this forum.
I would like to fit a dash cam to my car and in order to do so I need a 12v supply that goes off with the ignition. The 12v socket in the centre console would be ideal but I cannot see how you remove the trim panels etc in order to get to the back of it.
Would anyone know how to do this without damage or is there a more convenient supply somewhere?

Thanks

Re: !2v supply, Dash Cam wiring.

I am not the neatest of people when it comes to hiding wires but this is what I have done to fit my dash cam.
It is neat, took 10 minutes, hidden the wires behind the trim, down the side of the door, above the glove box,
and bring the wire out near the cigarette power supply. The outside shows what can be seen from the outside.

Got mine in the corner of the screen on the passenger side. It was in the way putting it in the centre.

Hi Rubik

Remember that you have a pyrotechnic air bag on the passenger side, I would be cautious about putting anything in it's way. Possibly fine if it is high and well to the side.

The techs I have spoken to at my dealers all say the same as above. Because its a unique design as an airbag don`t put anything on the passenger side just to be safe. I was advised not to hardwire but instead, mount more on the drivers side, if possible, and plug directly into the cigar lighter from there. They have had instances were these cams have been hardwired into the `Airbag Circuit`

I have mine on the centre bottom of the windscreen and the wire goes into the glove box under the lid, then out again at the front corner and into the 12v socket. So the wire is sort of hidden.

I was inspired to go 'wire hiding' after seeing this thread
The front panel just pulls off....and the hole was made with a small chisel :)
