Hello,
I want to change c4 cactus shine edition tyres (205/50 R17) to 205/55 R17 because on my country routes & highways are bad.
Do you think car stability and general driveability will be affected?
Thank you everybody for your answers.
Thank you Hammy. I will check with insurance company.
I guess will depend on each country regulations of vehicle modifications (I wonder if 3.22% of rolling diameter change is accepted by law)
Thanks
This page shows same pressure 2.3/2.1 front/rear for both profiles but the label in my cactus says 2.3/2.3 front/rear for 205/50r17.
So people who changed to 205/55 profile what pressure they suggest?
I've looked at this, but for 55 profiles the load ratings are only available in 91 or 95. Bottom line is the tyres are far more expensive: £115-130 for Michelin / Pirelli etc. 50 profiles are £90+?
Good afternoon,
Interesting this change from 50 to 55.
I just bought my eat 6 with tyres 205 50 17 (just the last one of model 2017; new 2018 is now for sale here in Spain!).
I don't like so much the low height of the tyre and the Good Year but of course I will drive for a while with them.
Going in the future to 55 does that mean that my car will be appr. 2 cm higher, which I prefer anyway?
If so, there will be no problem in the 2 yearly security check? What about the warranty (the company in Madrid told I can't change from 50 17 to 55 16)?
Regards,
Rob
Happy New Year to all.
I replaced my tires with Crossclimate 205/55r17.
First impressions are very good.
I just want to make a long trip to assure that the car is more steady and comfortable.
As of the topic, i mostly refer to the change of 50 to 55 and i feel the car more "heavy" and smooth.
