Spam

Post by nc111 » Tue Oct 02, 2018 1:45 am

There seems to be a lot of spam posts, mostly on essay writing for some reason? How about some measures to limit this such as limiting number of threads a new joiner can start for first few days.

Another could be automatic ways to delete spam, if a certain number of users report a post then it goes into a moderation queue and all future posts by that user do. Admin/mods could then asses what needs to be done.

Thanks - got them all deleted. We do have quite a few spam measures in place but there are carried out by humans these days so can always find a way around them.

At least they were all in the off-chat section - spammers aren't usually so considerate lol.

I was meaning things to limit spamming opportunities, like no links allowed below 5 posts, etc. Most spammers register an account, post a shedload of times and then never return. Though its a fine line not to put off genuine new members.

Will just keep reporting as I see it :)
