UREA Warning Light

Post by Flight » Sun Sep 15, 2019 8:50 pm

Hi. My UREA Warning Light keeps flashing up on my Cactus. The ADBLUE tank is full and I have taken it into the Citreon garage now 4 time for it to be reset. The garage told me this is unusual and don't know what it could be. Can anyone help as I am worried this is going to turn out to be an expensive job.

The Adblue tank does not require to be taken to an agent to reset. It will reset itself after a top-up, however you do require to add a minimum of 5L for the system to register the addition. If the agent has told you that you need a reset, I would suggest you take it to a different agent who know what they are doing. How many miles have you done. The adblue should last ~12,000 miles. If you have had a warning and needed less than ~14L to brim the tank, you probably have a problem with the Adblue pump. If so it is an expensive job, so I hope you are still in warranty or you have deep pockets. (note I have just posted a similar reply on the C3/C5 Aircross forum, and it comes up frequently on the C4 forum. Indeed I had to have this done myself)

Note Edited after confusing myself with Adblue and EOLYS.

I am very worried its the pump (and no I am not in warranty).
The reset was done for me on Friday afternoon and the adblue tank was full to the brim, around 70 miles later the light comes on again. This is a pattern which has been repeated around 3 times now. With the garage resetting and recalibrating each time.

As I said above, you should not have to have the system reset, it resets itself.

I have a 2014 Shit-reon

I do hope you can help me I have a 2014 Citreon Cactus which has 3 engine lights on.
1. Urea
2. Engine Management
3. Service

I took to my local Citreon garage last week for service and to look into light display(which are very scary when they all denote Critical to get to a garage asap).

I have researched this condition on forums whereby this is deemed a common fault and if the car still under warranty they would replace.. there are reams of pages associated with this fault saying should be manufacturers recall..
My car has done just over 30.000 miles so therefore although older- the actual mileage does not suggests otherwise.

I detailed this data to the head office at Citreon UK who said that the forums are not authorised by citroen.. I said no they are hardly going be the mechanics and citreon workforce on the threads these are the voices of the people who have purchased the vehicle and All have the same issue and its luck if within the 3 years warranty if you get replaced or not!! The Manager asked how much I thought was expensive for the part and fitting.. I replied Is £1150(incidentally paid nearly £300 for diagnosis and service whereby the service light still on)a drop in the ocean for you.
He said will liaise with the garage whereby I received an email saying there would be no contribution by the way of good will on their part!!

I do hope you feel I have a valid case to receive some help on your part.
If it was not a common fault and had 130000 mileage I would be more understanding but it is and it has not!!

I did however say I would pay a percentage.

The issue you may well have is that the system will shut down the engine and it will not start. I understand how you feel, but unfortunately if you don't get the fault fixed you may well find the car unusable. I'm not sure I understand why 'with luck' you will get it fixed under warranty. If you have a warranty and get the car properly serviced there should be no issue getting it fixed, as it can hardly be considered to be wear and tear. It really pays to keep the warranty going, and can be extender up to 100,000 miles. With potential repairs costing well over £1000, I consider it to be a no-brainer.
