Broken Interior Trim

Post by DaveJ » Wed Jan 11, 2017 3:34 pm

Hello everyone. First post on the forum after my wife purchased a Cactus back in October (I'm still a DS3 man myself!). This place was a superb resource when we were researching the vehicle prior to purchase and I was hoping I could trouble you for some advice.

A small piece of the interior trim on the speedo has fallen off and snapped. As you look at the unit, it is the small rectangular piece of plastic which (in case you were wondering, I can confirm) covers a screw.

I popped in to my local Citroen dealer but they have advised it can not be sourced as an individual item as it forms part of the unit.

Any suggestions on where else I should try?

Thanks.

Dave.

As the dealer said there was no spare part for it the only other option is try a breakers, but I can only see them selling the whole unit which won't be cheap. As others have said a home repair is probably the only cost effective option.

Did you buy the car new? Is it under warranty? How can a piece just fall off?

I think your dealer needs to look more closely at his parts list. The part no. is 98 103 138 80. I obtained the info from the service.citroen.com web site so I think I can vouch for its accuracy. If the dealer is struggling to locate the description it is under the Electric Unit tab, then under the Driver Information, it is then under the Instrument Panel entry as Instrument Cluster Assy.

Good luck

Very helpful info DavidP thanks.

The front passenger vent in mine has a broken horizontal bar, I'll check that link out to see if the vent is available.
