French Road Trip MPG

Just thought i'd share the economy of my Cactus on my road trip to Brittany from Sunderland. Excuse the dust on the console  We went over on the Plymouth - Roscoff ferry.

On my trip i put around £120 of diesel into my car - £45 to fill the tank for the journey down, 2 x 20 Euros on the 10 days we were there and 35 Euros to fill up to come home. After arriving home this afternoon i still have 111 miles left in the tank. I think i'm quite happy with the 64.1 MPG. I did get it up to 68 MPG but it soon dropped on the small windy roads of Brittany.

Fully expect around 58 mpg down to charente maritime.
Mix of urban and motorway.
Done it for the last couple of years.

I just drove from Baltimore Co.Cork to Cork city, about 55 miles or so. I couldn't believe the MPG. 110 Diesel. 73.36 mpg. Av speed 55kph. A good bit of traffic. This car averages 53mpg longterm.

Did slightly better than expected just touched 60 mpg
Kept off the peage so mixed motorway and lots of roundabouts.
Seems the sweet spot for my car is setting cruise at 68mph and let the computer take over.
You would think that doing 90kph on the main roads would give better economy but that doesn't seem to happen, too many hgv and tractors on rural main roads.
Still not a bad return for a little petrol unit

Good to hear, that`s exactly how mine performs, though once to get above 70 you can the economy on it  ...I agree re French rural roads you always seem to be approaching some hamlet or other with a lower speed limit, almost like regular stop start..and now the speed limit is down to 80kms unless the carriageways are physically separated it take forever to get anywhere..I prefer the peages these days, but excellent little petrol unit that almost matches the diesels.
