82 or 108 HP?

Post by szaBIKA » Tue Sep 11, 2018 9:54 pm

Hi all Cactus owners and not owners yet. Me and my wife love the car looks, I even test drive it an 2015 model, 1.2 Puretech 82 Feel version.
My question is: Which do you recommend, 82 or 108 BHP, and what I have to pay attention when I wil check one. We have no kids( and not in the plan in soon future) so we just really need a nice, economycal petrol, which also good for long drives, and have a style. From my opininon this is the C4, Cactus. Probably I can afford only 2016 model max. I will buy from a dealer. Any, but really, ANY advice welcome. I am a bit afraid from Citroen, never had. I dont need a sport car, or for speeding, i need a car which is mainly reliable, and can do long highway miles, but we mostly will use in the town.
This toppic allready longer that I was planned, so thank you in advance all of your help.
Sorry for grammatical mistakes :)

Bye for now 8-) :D :) ;)

I owned a 110hp and when it was sent into the citroen dealer for warranty work (numerous issues) I had the 82hp cactus on two occasions. In my opinion there's no comparison. The 82hp is slow, sluggish and nothing happens when you put your foot down. Put your foot down in the 110 and it throws you back in your seat

Horses for courses..I have the 110 and yes its a pocket rocket...but..earlier this year I had an 82 on hire for 2 weeks whilst abroad. Comfort wise it was way above your average hire car and for pottering around town and short to medium haul it was absolutely fine. Round town these days how often can you drop a cog and pass something anyway?.Due to gearings, I found you could keep it in higher gears round town, whereas you change more often with the 110. Fuel consumption is honestly about the same.

If, on the other hand, you need to carry full loads over any sort of distance or you need to feel a bit of exhilaration in your driving then the 110 is the way to go..Pricewise and choice there are plenty of 82`s on the market, the 110`s are a bit rarer and command a price premium.

As I said at the start Horses for Courses. Good luck, but either way you won`t regret the Cactus, its a great car all the way round whichever one you choose. One thing I would say is try to get a Flair, loads of toys, rear camera, sound system, Sat Nav etc

Absolute rubbish that the 82 bhp is slow sluggish and nothing happens when you put your foot down.It might not be as fast as the 110 turbo but in 3rd and 4th gearsi pulls strongly, and once in fifth gear it goes along nicely. And no problems with the misfires that have been raised in the 110 turbo.I would advise the flair model as it has sat nav automatic lights and wipers, and reversing camera.Try both and make your own mind up.

You could always go for 100hp diesel...

I was a diesel fan, but really in 90% use for city doesn't feel to buy a diesel car. Only probably once a year we gonna go to East Europe, and once to France/Spain maybe. Thnx anyway :)

I would totally endorse Coypars comments. We have an 82bhp Flair and it performs entirely adeqately. The only reason I'd go for the 110 is if I was regularly carrying heavy loads

Both cars are great, do get a Cactus.
The 110 is more powerful, more economical (mine says 50mpg with mixed driving) and tax is only £20 per year for 110, the 82 can't be much less! The 110 may be more to buy but I was sure it was worth it and didn't consider the lower powered option.

110 (of course) All black Flair with panoramic roof - Cheltenham. And I do wave.

The 110 is certainly worth it if you do long journeys.

Zero road tax on a 110 Stop start registered before end of March 2017.

Also make sure you get one with drum brakes on the rear and the improved gear linkage in later cars
