Satnav update

Post by Jimmydick » Sun Sep 23, 2018 6:03 am

Hi
I've recently got a 2015 Cactus and did the basic satnav update £6.99. Is it worth paying £69 for the UK and Ireland update ?. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

If you sign up to the Citroen members site you may find your car has free map updates for 5 years. There's threads on here about it. I'm sure one of the other users will be along shortly with a much better reply than this. And a copy of the link etc.
Don't spend your money just yet!

You might be interested to read the thread from a Peugeot forum, about updating the same satnav - ie type SMEG +
Its at https://www.peugeotforums.com
Select Forums
Then down the page select model 308
Then select forum 308 (2014+)
Then select the Sticky with title :
Select the thread with title "SMEG + Map and Speed Camera Update Procedure"
Page 1 gives links to maps etc

The procedure is given in page 1 of that same Peugeot 308 thread - look for "Map Update Procedure SMEG +" and apparently you'll also need the Java Key Generator from same page...

I've just had a look - the Java key generator as downloaded is a .RAR file which needs to be converted into a ZIP file first.
I've just done it using an online method using www.convert.files.com.
It seems easy and converted straight away into a zip file which I could then unzip to finally give a file named generator.JAR

Then following the Maps Update Procedure, I double clicked this JAR file to run the key generator into which I put our VIN and the location of the CCT.DAT.inf file (from the maps download) and it gave me the map activation key.
The only thing I haven't done today is the actual upload into the car...

All seems a bit of a rigmarole - don't know why its done this way...

Hope that's helpful to you...
