Wiper blade washer jet

Post by Mothy » Tue Apr 23, 2019 11:48 am

I seem to be going round in circles trying to identify what I need.
My near side wiper washer nozzle has snapped off where the pipe attaches.
Is the nozzle part of the replacement blade?
Or is it a separate item?

Thanks

Thank you.

l'll order a set of replacement blades. I assume there is no big deal in detaching them from the arms?

Cheers

No big issue with replacing them. Just take your time and ensure the pipes are pushed fully on when fitting.

New OE Citroen blades have arrived and are now fitted and washing satisfactorily.

Thank you

1) is windscreen wash supposed to come out all the way along the blade or just from a section in the middle?
2) is windscreen wash supposed to come out on only one side of the blade (on the up stroke)?
3) has anyone tried putting more holes in the blade to give a better coverage?

Wash squirts from a jet which is at end of the blade nearest the bonnet. Options 2 and 3 are impossible.

The washer fluid comes out of the jets at the bottom of the blade, and is directed along a little channel running along the length of the blade. It will continue to squirt out for as long as you operate the switch, whether on the up or down stroke. I always operate the switch and hold it until the wiper just starts to move up. That way you get a good amount of fluid on the first wipe, which can otherwise be a bit dry.

I have looked into this feature at great length.

(1) The wash (water input) only comes from the bottom of the blade.

(2) The amount of squirt is quite adequate as already mentioned pulling the stalk till the wiper starts moving.
This releases sufficient fluid to clean the screen and of course can be increased by extended pulling.

(3) Nothing is to be gained by trying to modify the squirt on the actual blade but you could try fitting external jets on the bonnet lip.

Wiper blade replacement needn't be expensive. I have just once again replaced just the blade for £1.50. It is easy to do, takes about 10 minutes. Tools requires is a Stanley knife, snipe nosed pliers, small screw driver. The pliers release the clip crimped onto the rubber of the blade. After doing this, unthread the blade, thread new one down the groove, re-apply the clip, pop back in the recess in the arm.

Regrettably other readers think I am a 'skinflint' but my wiper blades clear exactly the same as the £30 ones from Citroen, no smears.
