Citroën will replace the now-discontinued C4 and ageing C4 Cactus with an all-new C-segment crossover, and the first spy shots of the new model have now emerged.

Tipped to be revealed in the latter part of this year before going on sale at the start of 2021, the newly developed model will sit on the PSA Group's CMP architecture, allowing it to be the first in its class to offer petrol, diesel and battery electric powertrain options. Former Citroën CEO Linda Jackson confirmed this last year.

The new images offer our first look at the new car, which moves towards the now-fashionable coupé-SUV bodystyle by way of a distinctly sloping roofline and a raised tailgate. However, clear Citroën design cues remain in the front end, particularly the low-mounted headlight layout, and a clamshell bonnet features.

Yet another bland euro-car. Yuk. Characterless. The statement made is 'I'm cloned and not individual'.

To be fair, if you can tell that from looking at the camouflage without seeing the details of the design you've got better eyesight than me! Let's see what the finished product looks like

They'd already bottled it with the second Cactus, so I'm not shocked that they're moving further away.

Maybe it will be a good car on it's own merits though!

Thought - I have wondered what the point of the air bumps on the bottom of the doors on the recent Cactus is? Surely it doesn't stop anything?

I'm instantly reminded of the Lancia / Zagato Hyena for some reason but when I check it's more like a middle-aged version that's had a desk job for 30 years.

It could be amazing under all that wrapping though so let's see...

Someone got a shot of it with the wrap removed... maybe ;)

Looks like the Citroen GS from the back, a hearse in the middle and the Citroen Visa from the front.
The original, pre Photoshop version, reveals you're pretty much spot on.
