Mines the diesel and at the moment I have the standard supplied Goodyear 205/50R17 89V Effcient Grip (with the rim protection lip)
These have now been replaced by Goodyear with Efficient Grip Performance. The 'new' EGP tyres cannot be mixed with an old EG tyre on the same axle as there are steering issues
Mine's coming up to 17k miles and looks like I'll be needing new soon so thought I'd find out what everyone else uses.
To replace mine with the new EGP tyres ASDA Tyres do them for £98.34 each which includes disposal of old tyre, new valves, balancing, and fitting. But seeing as they don't seem to have a very long life, I was thinking of getting a different make.
Mine is on the original Goodyear tyres at 26k and looking like they'll need replacing this summer. I will go for the original tyres - or the new version of them, because I think they will have lower road noise - and this is a priority. I don't know if I'm imagining it but I'd say the road noise is increasing as the tyres wear. Thanks for the info about ASDA tyres at£98 each. That doesn't sound too bad.
Been seeing some good reports on the new Avon ZV7 tyres. Made in the UK for British weather (so they say) and selling at a good price especially for the 17in..Quite a few that like them and some have changed from Goodyears with positive vibes. Anyone else got an opinion?
23000 miles so far on mitchelin energy saver + 205/55/16 V.
Still got about 4mm left on front & approx 5mm on rear.
Would probably buy same again as they are only £10 ish more than Goodyear/Dunlop equivalent. Had Dunlop blue response 205/50 17 on previous C4 diesel and those only lasted about 14000 miles.
The mitchelin are a bit noisier than dunlops, but work out cheaper over the miles.
Would consider Mitch cross climates, they do seem quite expensive....but are supposed to last even longer than the +
Grip on the energy + is good wet, dry & not bad in colder months.
Just had mine in to ATS near Leeds to check the tyres, depths etc before our forthcoming trip to Rural France..Glad I did, they found a rather large recent looking gash on the sidewall of the front o/s Goodyear ..Long story short, after kicking various tyres and prices and discounts about, I`ve got 2 new Avon ZV7 `s fitted and balanced for £81 a corner, which I didn`t think was bad for an `A` rated 17 inch tyre and manufactured in the UK to boot

I shall replace all mine after the summer run to France.
Got 3.5mm on front and 6mm on the back.
Most likely go for Michelin cross climate around £110 a corner.
The Goodyears on from new are crap. And certainly not up to much up here in the Peak District.So I'm keen to get shut at what I think is a sensible point.
Now the BlueHD is going this week I priced up for the petrol Cactus with 16" wheels, the tyres are still very good as it's low mileage, so I was only looking for my own interest really. From ASDA tyres the same brand as for the Flair 17" are £30 a tyre cheaper. Yet they're only an inch smaller. Weird. The tyre wall is slightly higher than the 17"s so you'd think they'd only be slightly different wouldnt you.
Good old Citroen seem to have a thing about using tyre sizes that are not the most common sizes and subsequently cost silly money.
It's supply and demand.
Or is it just quirky?
Got the two front Goodyears replaced by the ZV7 Avon`s...very early days but initaially seem to provide a smoother ride, especially over bad road surfaces than their predecessors. Off on a long trip to France to I`ll update after that.
Got Michelin energy saver + 205/55/16 V all round on Urbert. Hardly any wear with 11,700 miles. The Goodyear tyres on the diesel were quite worn with only 16,000 miles so will need replacing soon.
I was very annoyed my Cactus came with Goodyears. I deliberately went for the Feel because of the Michelins being inextricable with Citroën. The fronts needed replacing at 14,000 :shock: and although the rears had 3/4 mm I got the full set of energy savers. They're so much quieter
Yes, Michelin Energy Saver (in my case 195/65-15) is fine. Now the car has driven 78000 km (48500 miles) and they are not completely worn yet. However, 5 months a year I drive with winter tires.
Now down in the middle of rural France so the new ZV7's have got well bedded in. So far much quieter and smoother than the Goodyears.. hopefully they will wear better than their predecessors who were finished before 18,000 miles😧....by the way car was excellent and very comfortable on a very long trip😀

What's the view on the original 89 load rating versus 93?
The 93 appear to be a more common tyre but are 'Extra Load' - will often show XL on sidewall
Mrs cactus has some cheapo Chinese City Racing rated 93W on the front now, I'm sort of wanting to get rid of the 'cheap crap' but to be fair they seem to grip pretty well....I guess a combo of 205 tyres and a light car.....
I'm using Michelin's Pilot Sport 4 (205/50 ZR17 93Y), already got 15 000 KM on them and they are still have half tread left. Awesome summer tyres in my opinion (if you have a "sportier" driving style).
Goodyear 4 season.. Looks like around 25000 miles will be the mileage out of the. I can live with that!
As one who squeaks I have always put premium tyres on and some brands I just avoid, Pirelli and Continental spring to mind
I know this is an old thread but just to add that we've reached the point where the original factory Goodyears now have to be changed. I think we've done well to get 48,000 miles from them. Regularly rotated etc. Fronts are just approaching the wear markers so have bee looking hear to see what others have tried.
My conclusion is to stick the the EfficientGrips - not given any problems and clearly no significantly cheaper solutions worth considering.

I have been driving since 1985 and find the price of tyres is more about how common the tyres size is in use, not the actual size its self, the more the tyre fitters buy, the cheaper the tyre....
I don't do a lot of miles so didn't see the need for expensive tyres,so done a search on tyre shopper,and found good reviews on autogreen tyres.Fitted at National tyres for £90 the pair and have found them to be decent.
Quiet and smooth running,National tyres quoted £64 a tyre but cheaper going through tyre shopper who are linked with National tyres.
