service light on and message on media display to say engine fault have vehicle repaired. I have connected odb and no codes come up, also engine management light is not on. First came on after filling up, but then went away after a few days and did it again after filling up with diesel.

I then bought a new odb connector with diagbox software and get code b1811 96 - diesel fuel additive pump
Does this mean I need a new pump or are there other likely causes?

Sounds very familiar to what I'm seeing only your code is different:

I'd be interested to see if you get the same as me in the FAP software (Amazon app store), I'll have a go with diagbox too.

I was planning to see if FAP indicated any change in the amount of Adblue in the tank to show if the pump is actually doing anything, seems really weird that it happens when you fill up with diesel though, kind of glad I'm not alone in this one.

How many miles has your car done?

Please all be aware that there are two systems fitted to Citroen diesels. The EOLYS system is the one which adds fluid to the fuel tank and injects the fluid (cerium solution) into the fuel tank to aid regeneration of the particle filter. The Adblue is injected into the exhaust system to reduce nitrogen oxides. The wording of the code using 'fuel additive' would indicate a problem with the EOLYS system. The majority of issues reported on the C4 site (including by me) are to do with the Adblue pump which is only available with the tank.

The problem here could be that the fault could be diagnosed for the wrong system, and a large amount of time and money wasted.

This is the bit I'm trying to avoid, if I had a local (non-main dealer) Citroen specialist to hand I'd take it in but the last thing I need is my local dealer charging me £50 to pull the code and then hours to actually decide where the fault lies before hitting me with hefty parts costs.

I really wasn't expecting this kind of stuff on a 3 year old car with under 30,000 miles.
