Perhaps there is a USB memory limit, that restricts higher memory capacity working correctly.

There might be a problem with the memory stick formatting - the Cactus User Manual states compatibility only with USB memory sticks with FAT32 formatting, but this may not be what you have.
Can you check what the formatting is for your stick?

Hi DaveW

Many thanks for your response. Do you know how to check the formatting of the memory stick?

My wife has just bought a new Mini and the shuffle function works perfectly in hers and shuffles all 7000 songs.

But as you said could be an issuewith the formatting of the USB I purchased and a compatibility issue.

Look forward to your response

Regards

Sorry again

After a bit of research, I know how to check formatting. I put this in my laptop, checked out the properties and under the general tab file system states FAT32. So I am now sure that this is compatible with what is required

From looking around various car forums it looks like your shuffle problem is quite common and the limit of ~ 4000 tracks seems to be mentioned a number of times.

Probably a limitation imposed by design and hardware constraints.

A workround could be to have two USB sticks with alternate albums on each, so one USB stick has half of your A-Z selection and the remaining A-Z on the other stick...

Many thanks for you rapid response.

Looks like this is the option I may need to go with !!! Shame as it works perfectly in other systems !!!

Hi all,

Coming late to this thread but I was just wondering if anyone has found a work around for these issues?

My USB drive is 64gb and is FAT32 formatted and just like others only shows A-M music in the car, N-Z are nowhere to be seen :x

I don't really want to have two two USB sticks in the car just to have the full A-Z music list etc!

Cheers,

Shawn

Having 2 USB drives IS workaround. Or limit your music to 4000 songs ( which is around 233 hours of music )...

Ah, damn it! If that's the workaround then I'll just have to buy another USB drive.

Thanks for confirming.
