Fuel Cap Sensor - is there one?

Post by thetapeworm » Thu Jun 13, 2019 8:07 pm

Quick query - does the Cactus (specifically the diesel model although presume same for both types) have a sensor to say that the fuel cap isn't on?

Or... if you have a moment, and two keys, can you remove your filler cap and start the car up to see if any messages pop up?

Would appreciate any input :)

Just carried exactly what you asked.
No warnings, alerts or messages on the screens.
This a 2015 diesel .

Much appreciated, that's another theory I had about my ongoing issue out of the window 😅

What’s your issue?
A "general engine dysfunction" error that first appeared after refuelling. Fine pulling in to fill up, diesel in, then on starting the car the error came up on the main screen along with the "service" light on the dash.

It's using Adblue, performance seems normal, a check with the FAP app and an OBDC adapter bring up P1434 and P1434 errors.

P1434 - Multiplexed Pump Fault
P1435 - CAN fault or multiplexed additive pump fault.

I put 10L of Adblue in last week when the urea light and 1500 mile countdown popped up. Theses went off but FAP was only seeing the previous levels it has for the past month.

Sorry I can’t help. Have you been to a dealer?

Not as yet, I'm trying to avoid going to them without some prior checks so I can minimise the wallet pain :)

I called them about it and they won't do anything until it's been on their diagnostics so I'll havd to bite the bullet, I just thought I'd try and cover some basics first.
