Hi. I know different car but this place seems to have lots of info on the problem. Mine is a 65 reg c4 picasso 2.0 hdi. Bought from independent dealer in January.
I got the urea warning a month ago and tank took around 9 litre. After a run the warning went away so must have been a low warning. It's got 38k milage.

Yesterday I got the engine fault warning emissions fault with urea light on so I assume it's the same issue.

So I guess only a Citroen garage can fix this? Is the procedure to book a diagnostic with them and then there is a number to call to see if they will help with the cost?

Wish I had done deeper research before buying!

Edit... I read about the adblue delete. I may just go that route. Anyone recommend a place in Leeds/Wakefield Or west Yorkshire?

Thanks, Simon.

Answer my own question lol. I am currently getting it adblue delete in Bradford. Stuff paying Citroen lol
Welcome aboard :)

Let me know how you get on in Bradford, I'm not far away myself and am considering options to resolve a possible EOLYS fault that's plagued me alongside the (now sorted) AdBlue tank failure.

I have had a reply from Citroen today offering 70% off parts covering the tank but not the injector.
Still waiting on Stoneacres of Wrexham to get back to me with full cost but don’t know if it’s worth pursuing for more or if this will be the final offer. Is there any further actions that could be taken. I have a 2016 C4 Cactus on 44,000 miles.

Also needs a catalytic converter which is covered through recall. Not a car person but are all these issues connected?
Hello! The 70% gesture seems more generous than some have had - what injector are they looking to change too as the tank should have everything involved as one part.

I'd push for the diagnostics charges to be covered by them given they've accepted fault and ask them to ensure the AdBlue that's in your old tank goes back in the new one rather than them binning it (yeah right) and then charging you for it.

The catalyst "recall" is just a weld to a bracket isn't it? I don't think there's been anything for the whole thing replacing.

Keep us posted on how you get on please :)

I am still here now. Charging £200 for it doing. Not sure if I can link the place here but pm me if you want to know.
Link away, there's no rules on that kind of thing and I think I kind of defaulted to being in charge when nobody else wanted to help out so go for it :ROFLMAO:

Have they said anything about the DPF? I presume you'll be keeping that in place given the price? Do you get the extra 30bhp too?

Never asked about dpf or extra power. He did say that all sorts of errors were in the log. Dpf was almost full so reset it. Alarm fault, alternator fault and some I can't remember. He said if I were you get rid of it lol. Thing is it's already worth £2500 less than what I paid in January!

My local ECU / tuning / diagnostics guy in south Leeds flat out refused to even let my car into the workshop despite me being a previous customer, his words were something like "life is too short to try and fix any more Citroens" :ROFLMAO:

Good to see your place has a dyno and isn't just someone working out of a car with a laptop and hoping for the best, hopefully you're trouble-free now!

Yeah had a BMW on rolling road while there, it was so loud lol. My 53yr old ears did not like it 😂

I am already advertising it with motorway lol. Thing is it's the wife's and she chose it. Only uses it for 26 mile round trip 5 days a week so never getting a good run. Gonna loose 2.5k but rather that than lots more problems to come. Will get her a small petrol instead

Hello.

Thanks for keeping us updated on this one @jacques38

A link in English (you'll need to disable your ad blockers etc to read the article) for those of you without fancy browsers that change things automatically :)

The European Bureau of Consumers' Unions (BEUC), wants "a European-wide survey to be launched on the practices of manufacturers around AdBlue". In addition, it recommends “requiring manufacturers to remedy AdBlue-related failures” and that they bear the repair costs, including for drivers who have had a breakdown in the past.
Hopefully this gains some traction and becomes a world-wide investigation that sees those affected already able to recoup some costs...

Time to start bean counting. Citroen will just claim their own insurers.

Would they return my original £750+ for removal cost??
And reinstate my Adiglu system???

Would they fcuk.:mad::poop:

And it's better as it is.(y)

Follow Up - Hi everyone. It’s been 15 months and a further 15,800 miles since I asked for advice about, the dreaded, AdBlue warning light appearing on my 2018 2l C4 Grand Spacetourer (page 1 & 2 of this thread). After my local Citroen dealer (who had then never heard of any problems with faulty AdBlue tanks) found no issues and carried out a denox system reset, my car has performed perfectly.

However, whilst travelling down the M6, last Saturday, the same error warnings returned. I stopped at the services, purchased 10l of fluid and added 4l to the tank, before it overflowed. The error warnings continue, I have 600 miles left before I can’t start the car and I have had to contact the dealer again with this same problem.

I’m worried that perhaps the initial issue never really went away and that my car will be 5 years old this October and outside the period that Citroen may look favourably on a warranty replacement of the tank (just found out that this may now have increased to 8 years/131,000 miles). I did open a case with Citroen UK 15 months ago and they did appear helpful, but I had to inform them that the local dealer could find nothing wrong. Hopefully, I can take some comfort that this record will be useful in the event of a new tank being needed.

I’ve now spoken to Budgen Motors, they're the only Citroen dealer in Shropshire and they are fully booked until 30th August!!! However, they can do an AdBlue system reset, for £25 and this should give me an additional 700 - 800 miles. They've advised me to contact them when I get down to 200 miles and then pop in. Having "never heard" of a single AdBlue tank problem 15 months ago, they now admit to having several issues recently, with new tanks being required! Due to the time scale, it looks like I should try and find another garage to look at this for me, but I don't know of one local to Telford, where live and I think that it will need to be an authorised Citroen dealer. If anyone knows of a place they can recommend, within 30 miles, please let me know.

I've noticed on this thread that many people now seem to be electing to bypass the AdBlue system completely, either by remapping the electronics, or physically removing the bits of the system, or a combination of the two. I must say that I do consider this action to be wrong from a health perspective, but so many people now seem to be having to pay large bills to rectify something which is clearly a fault of the manufacturer, that I can sympathise with their plight and understand their decision. Ultimately, this may have to be the route I consider to follow, as I love my car and need it to be reliable – it’s also the only car my wife and I have and it’s large enough to tow our caravan with ease. However, I have no idea how to find out more about this and also no idea how the car is ever expected to pass on MOT again. Of course, selling it will eventually bring another headache, as I would not be willing to pass on a modified car to an unwitting new owner. This could also result in a very poor resale value!

I tend to hold on to cars for a long time. Having had Citroen’s continually since 1973, I’ve had plenty of small gremlins over the years, with some, like the troublesome XM range, being a particular pain, but I’ve never had to face really expensive and unfair costs, such as these, I’m now learning about!
The message from Jacques38, who posted a link to the French consumer defense association - UFC-Que Choisir, is encouraging, if only for the bad publicity it will threaten PSA with. Watch this space and fingers crossed!

Thanks for your past help and support. I've also had some great help from the French Car Forum site, Paul

For anyone who has the unfortunate problem of tailgating me when I have pushed my go pedal beyond the axminster. Please put on your aircon and airflow recycler, put on your windscreen wipers. Close all windows. Don`t even think about breathing. Or you will get a free coal bath. And if your car happens to be white. Then go and wash it pronto. My Cactus really is a spikey fuc&.

I may post a picture of the bottom of the outside of my garage door, as the lowest part of it is black. ( and the monoblocks, the concrete base under the white garage door:poop::sneaky::devilish:) Even though I wiped it with a benzine soaked rag.

The grandkids, don`t even have any kids. The planet, it can wash the atmosphere with acidic rainfall. I do pollute, but as much as a hybrid diesel train pullin twelve or more carriages full of people. Or one cruise ship on the shiney blue fish filled stuff. Or for that matter any public transportation hybrid bus unit.

And industry pollutes the most, coal powered electricity is killing the ozone layer, never mind local school kids lungs. I used to drive a 2t engined motorbicycle around Glasgow city centre. And Glasgow was pollution central back in the seventies to the 2010`s. And my visor was black with soot.
