Top Up Engine Oil warning

I randomly get a warning to "top up engine oil" even though this has been done. The sensor was changed but approximately 6 months later I get the same message. My Citroen garage topped up the oil once again but a few months later the message pops up again. There is no visible leak which I would have noticed. Does anyone have any clues what the problem might be?

This car only contains 3.3 ltr oil, therefore it´s extremely important to fill it up regularly.
If it is only 1/2 filled then you drive around with under 2ltr oil which is not enough, you will also experience it running better when the oil is filled up.
Citroen changed my engine as it used too much oil, up to 0.5-1LTR per. 1000km.

OP - did you get the issue resolved?? I car started to report "top up engine oil" at random some 50% of the time during start. The dip stick reads nicely: half full - on a cold engine sitting over night. So it seems to be a sensor issue?

What engine do you have? And how many miles between the top-up and the low oil warning?
The petrol 82 engine apparently has a small oil capacity so possibly the normal engine oil usage is sufficient in the few months for the level to drop.

The engine oil dip stick will give you a visual indication of actual level. The User handbook explains how to do this check, and suggests checking and topping up, if necessary, every 3000 miles.

It is very normal to top up between service (once a year), but not more than 1-2 liters.

I have experienced it was completely out of oil (think they had forgotten to fill up after service) but did not get a warning, discovered it myself when I checked the oil.
