There should be a one in a million chance of this happening to you but for what it's worth here's my experience. The other night I started to hear a grinding noise from the front offside (right in UK). It seemed rotational and changed pitch with the speed of the car. Wheel bearings, disc? after a while I came down in favour of the brakes. Took car to Citroen today who after a test drive and inspection have sorted it.
It turns out the brakes have a metal/foil label on them when new (never thought to ask where) and can in time come off. In my case it managed to get trapped in the brake... what are the chances? Simple case of removing it.
