Aw, don't be deflated. It is a fantastic car. I love mine though the DAB problem is really irritating. As long as you stay clear of BBC DAB stations you'll be fine. Make sure you don't leave it on BBC DAB even when you switch to FM or Bluetooth otherwise it'll start misbehaving again. Otherwise it's wonderful. Driven over 92k in mine and hope to do many more.
While I agree about keeping off the BBC station "fixes" the issue by avoiding it, I can't be without my BBC stations - from 1Xtra to 6 music, depending where the mood takes me. No ads wins it for me 😎

I heartily recommend doing the update to the system - half an hour of your time to get it fixed for good! It's a no brainer! AND the touch system is also improved, more responsive after the update.

I will give the update a go. It really is a darned nuisance. Glad that its worked for you.

Did anybody get a solution to this? I've recently just bought C4 Cactus 2016, 42k miles. I was making a short journey (less than 10 mins) and the screen cut out on the way there and on the way back. I was connected via Bluetooth
Some of the previous posts actually provide an update though I have not done it -seems to require about 40 minutes -my driving takes me on the motorway so not sure I'd want this happening at 70mph

The update is being done with a USB stick while the car is stationary, for obvious reasons 😊 and it works perfectly, speaking from experience...

Hi, if you look a couple of pages up, the solution is presented, with what to expect during the update process. You need a usb stick, download the software update, then install it in the car, with the engine on, while stationary. Can vouch it works perfectly, no more screen cut outs.

I have a 2019 Cactus and there was a screen update available (although I never installed it). My screen went blank a couple of times, and it is sometimes slow, but mostly OK - so if it ain't broke...

Thinking about the messages above, this is a poor solution to a recognised issue. A screen update ought to be a small piece of software to patch the specific problem - not something that completely reinstalls the entire operating and management system over forty minutes with the engine running (with petrol now at nearly £1.50 a litre!). Even if this was a recall, dealers would only do what you can do at home - and you'd have to book an appointment.

Mid-term report: could do better.

100% agree. Should be a recall.

As for the idle fuel consumption for 40 minutes, it would cost you less than driving to a dealer, checking the car in, getting a replacement /waiting there while they would burn the same amount of fuel for the update to happen, then get the car back and drive home... I had a recall for a Renault megane in the days of yore, no reimbursement for fuel used to get there and home...

I can once again recommend doing the update. Coming up to 3 months of trouble free multimedia experience!

Hi All,

Can anyone help. I have a 2016 Cactus and in the last few days the touch screen has been cutting out. Only done a few short trips since it started but It's cut off after only a few minute of driving. I tried to add a video but It won't let me do that so I've added a picture. The screen goes black, then comes up slightly faded as in the pic, then goes off and restarts. Any ideas whats going on?
This is one of those problems which seem to be caused by many things. At a certain point in it's life, the info system just goes flaky and starts turning off. One of the clear points to emerge is that if you take it to a Citroen garage, it is not going to be cheap. If you have the money, then that will solve the problem, if only for the reason that if they charge you to fix it and it isn't fixed then you have a place to go back to. Some people in this thread have uploaded new software successfully themselves but it sounds like you really need to know what you are doing. Many people seem to have resolved the issues by avoiding using DAB radio - sounds bizarre and unlikely but it worked for me in conjunction with removing a USB cable that I had left plugged in - a fix that was given to me by a man in the Ford garage that I bought the car from.... My Citroen garage was totally unhelpful, but kept quoting for the prices for a) looking at it b) fixing it etc.

I'm a little concerned here is this a 'programmed in fault' intended to make the screen fail.
Nah, it's a simple software update, things change, updates are needed. This is very poorly managed by citroen, no doubt, should be a recall, but there is nothing nefarious about it, I don't think. Only some BBC channels on the 12C dab transponder being affected.

Further to this. Have been managing OK avoiding DAB stations but using BBC either via FM or BBC sounds via Bluetooth. This has worked fine for years. Tonight the screen suddenly started the old rebooting nonsense again whenever I tried to use Bluetooth. Symptoms were as the original problem. Anyone else experienced this?

Please ignore post! Turned out that a mechanic had turned a DAB station to BBC hence my unexpected problem. Would delete but can't find a way to. Apologies.

Hello, I want to add my name to the list, at least I think so, I have a 2016 flair too and have a screen issue, mine has cut out and won’t come back on! Well not at the moment, we changed the fuse first, it my husband dropped the one he took out down the side and therefore we could not see if it had blown, so we bought a new one fitted it and hey presto. Screen back on, phew we thought, next day no screen! Fuse fine and not blown! I can’t obviously upgrade the software as I don’t have a screen! Help I cannot afford to go spend a fortune on getting it fixed! It controls everything!!

WOW.. I had the same problem.. screen cuts all the time & at one point no screen at all. removed USB's as suggested and it's working again properly. Thanx for sharing this and saving me a an expensive visit the the Citroen Garage. (also a Catctus 2016)

I know it's an old thread but just thought I'd add to it. I just got a great deal on a 2019 C4 Cactus 40.000 miles FSH for £6400 but I just had the touch screen go blank but the radio was still on, I also unplugged the USB a few times with no effect. So I took the key out ignition then restarted the car after 5 mins and the screen came on ok. It seems this is a common fault.
I've also read that the cam belt needs renewing after 68k miles, is that correct?

You haven't stated whether it's petrol or diesel. If it's the petrol then yes as it's a wet belt, 64k miles or 6 years. I am not sure about the diesel as that's a standard belt. Search the forum for cam belt/timing belt, there are lots of posts about it.
An excellent price for your car.
